Puzzle
Tower of Emberlane
★★★★★ 4.5
Tower of Emberlane blurs the line between tower defence and puzzle, and it's all the better for it. Instead of endless waves, each level is a fixed scenario with a limited budget, and you have to find the one layout that holds. It feels more like solving a knot than defending a lane.
The tower types are distinct and force genuine trade-offs. A slow tower here means a gap there, and the game loves punishing lazy symmetrical builds. We replayed several levels just to shave off a wasted tower, which is a good sign.
Controls are drag-and-drop with a helpful preview of range circles. The hint system is gentle and optional. If you like tower defence but find the endless-wave style repetitive, this is a smart alternative.
