Gearhound Rally
★★★★☆ 4.3
Gearhound Rally goes for feel over realism, and that's exactly the right call on a phone. The cars slide into corners with a satisfying weight, and the tilt steering is forgiving enough that you can play in a cafe without embarrassing yourself. There's a tap-to-brake assist for the gnarlier hairpins too.
The track variety is the strong point. Gravel, snow, and tight city circuits each change how the car handles, and learning to read a surface before you hit it is half the fun. We liked that the upgrade system is modest rather than a grind wall.
It's not a deep career mode, and the AI can be a little rubber-bandy on the final lap. But for quick bursts of speed, it nails the basics.
What we liked
- Satisfying drift handling
- Varied track surfaces
- Forgiving tilt controls
